ScientificName: Trichoplusia ni
Description: Caterpillars that are green with a white stripe down their sides. They have 3 pairs of prolegs on the abdomen.
Habitat/Food: Cabbage Loppers not only eat cabbage, but also plants such as potato, tomato, spinach, and pea.
Life Cycle: Eggs are glued to foliage in groups. They hatch within 3-5 days and then feeding begins. Pupation should occur in the general vicinity of the host plant.
Organic Control: Bacillus thuringiensis (BT) should be sprayed when the caterpillars are feeding.
Interesting Fact: Cabbage Loopers lack walking appendages in the middle of the body so they move around by drawing the rear end up to the front end and then straightening.
