Chipmunk
Description: Any of several small striped terrestrial squirrels of the genera Tamias and Eutamias, especially T. striatus of eastern North America.
Habitat/Food: Mating occurs in early Spring, and there is one litter per year. An average of 3 to 5 young are born in May, there have been reported litters as large as ten. The Chipmunk is a social animal, in that both the male and female raise the young.
Interesting Fact: Chipmunks make high-pitched chirping sounds which could almost be mistaken for the call of a bird. They make a number of different sounds, including a quick, sharp "cheep" repeated about 6 times.
