Cockroach
ScientificName: Order Blattodea, family Blattidae, over 3,500 species
Description: Brown bodies with oval shape and antennae.
Habitat/Food: Cockroaches live just about everywhere. They like dark, humid places and being enclosed on at least three sides of their body when in hiding. Cockroaches eat any food that is available.
Life Cycle: Simple metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult). It can take up to 600 days for a cockroach to reach the adult stage.
Organic Control: Citrus products, diatomaceous earth, and other organic insect sprays.
Interesting Fact: It really is true that a cockroach can live after its head has been cut off. The only thing that is necessary about a cockroach’s head is the fact that it uses it to eat. As long it has a full stomach at the time it gets decapitated, a cockroach can survive for almost two weeks.
