Lacewing
ScientificName: Hemerobiidae hemerobius and Chrysopidae chrysopa
Description: Brown or pale green bodies, clear wings with veins, and long antennae.
Habitat/Food: They live in most gardens and some forest areas. Lacewings feed on aphids, scale, thrips, and many other insects.
Life Cycle: Lacewings lay their eggs on the underside of leaves on slender white silk stalks. They undergo complete metamorphosis with 3-4 generations a year.
Organic Control: No control is needed for these are very beneficial insects.
Interesting Fact: Lacewing larvae may consume up to 75 aphids prior to pupation.
