ScientificName: Culicidae aedes and Culicidae Culex and others
Description: ¼-inch long, black and white body with long legs and clear wings.
Habitat/Food: Mosquitoes thrive in wet areas and feed by sucking the blood from any animals or humans they can find.
Life Cycle: Eggs are laid in standing water and hatch into larvae which can be seen “swimming” around in ponds and puddles after a wet spring.
Organic Control: Bacillus Thuringiensis Israelensis, citronella oil products, and many other plant oil based products work well to kill and repel mosquitoes.
Interesting Fact: Adult, female mosquitoes are the only ones that bite and can travel over one mile from their breeding spot to find a meal.
