Somehow I would still be afraid that it wouldn’t work and then all those plants would die.

FreezePruf has been tested on plants and shown to increase the cold tolerance of plants by 9.4 degrees. So, if a plant usually freezes at 30 degrees then the temperature could get to 20.6 before the plant experiences damage.
